St. Louis Black Repertory Company Announces Auditions for 2026

The St. Louis Black Repertory Company is holding an Equity Principal Audition for performers interested in roles during the second half of its 2026–27 season.

The in-person audition will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in St. Louis, Missouri. Equity actors are being considered for multiple productions, with a weekly minimum salary of $582 under an SPT 5 contract.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will manage the audition process.

Productions and Roles

Among the productions included in the provided season breakdown is for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf, with rehearsals beginning February 9, 2027, opening March 3, and closing March 28.

The production is seeking seven dynamic female-identified performers of color with emotional depth and range. Experience with spoken word, movement, and/or singing is encouraged.

The Lady in Brown – Grounded, introspective and wise
The Lady in Yellow – Youthful, joyful and connected to first love
The Lady in Orange – Bold and direct
The Lady in Red – Passionate and emotionally intense
The Lady in Green – Strong, sarcastic and vulnerable
The Lady in Blue – Dreamy, intellectual and artistic
The Lady in Purple – Spiritual, maternal and healing

Gem of the Ocean

August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean begins rehearsals on April 13, 2027, opens May 12 and closes May 30.

Roles currently listed as available include:

👩 Aunt Ester – Black/African Descent female, 60s–80s; commanding spiritual matriarch
👨 Citizen Barlow – Black/African Descent male, 20s–30s; earnest young man seeking redemption
👨 Solly Two Kings – Black/African Descent male, 60s–70s; fiery former Underground Railroad conductor
👩 Black Mary – Black/African Descent female, 30s–40s; strong-willed and compassionate
👨 Rutherford Selig – Caucasian/European Descent male, 40s–60s; observant traveling peddler

The roles of Caesar Wilks and Eli have already been cast.

The supplied season breakdown also lists additional Jasper family roles, including Claudine Jasper, Nazareth Jasper, Morgan Jasper, and Aziza Houston, while Solomon Jasper and Solomon “Junior” Jasper Jr. are already cast.
