Universal Feature Film Casting Period Club Patrons in NYC

Grant Wilfley Casting is currently seeking paid background actors for Freefall, a Universal Pictures feature film set in the 1980s and filming in the New York/New Jersey area.

For an upcoming sequence, casting is looking for men and women who can portray sexy, glamorous Miami club patrons with an authentic 1980s appearance.

The production is specifically seeking Latino and White performers in their 20s–40s who are comfortable with period hair styling, atmospheric smoke, and other scene requirements.

About Freefall

Freefall is an upcoming Universal Pictures feature film starring Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler and directed by Joseph Kosinski.

The film is set during the 1980s, which means background performers need to fit the fashion, hairstyles, facial hair, and overall appearance of the era.

For these scenes, production will recreate the atmosphere of a glamorous 1980s Miami nightclub while filming in the New York/New Jersey area.

Applicants should indicate their availability for both fitting and filming dates when submitting.

1980s Hair & Facial Hair Requirements

Period accuracy is important for this production.

For men:

✂️ Hair should generally have some length
Natural bald heads are acceptable
Some sideburns are acceptable, but not extremely long
Must be willing to receive a period-appropriate haircut
Must be comfortable with possible adjustments to facial hair

For facial hair, casting generally prefers:

Mustaches
Light scruff
Some clean-shaven looks

Full modern-style beards may not fit the period.

Applicants should submit recent photos clearly showing their current hair and facial hair.

Tattoos and Piercings

Casting is seeking performers without prominent modern tattoos or facial piercings.

Because performers may appear in short sleeves or shorts, visible tattoos could affect eligibility. Small tattoos may potentially be covered when appropriate.

Production may also apply spray tan as part of the period look.

Scene Requirements

Applicants should confirm that they are comfortable with:
