Denzel Washington’s new Netflix movie “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” is now holding casting calls.

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is a 1982 play set in Chicago in the 20’s. It deals with c issues of race, religion and the historic exploitation of black recording artists by white producers.

Casting Directors are now looking for actors, extras, dancers and musicians of all ages and ethnicities to work on “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” starring Denzel Washington.

Directors are also currently looking for African American extras aged 18+ for a fun scene. Ma Rainey is set in the 20s so they are looking for classic natural looks – no extensions or weaves. Natural eye lashes, no fake nails, no ear gauges or facial piercings, no visible tattoos.
