Eight O’Clock Theatre Announces “Cinderella” Auditions in Largo, FL

Eight O’Clock Theatre in Largo, Florida is holding in-person auditions for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, a magical family-friendly musical filled with romance, comedy, classic songs, and fairy-tale charm.

This production brings the beloved story of Cinderella to the EOT stage, following a kind young woman who dreams of a better life while living under the care of her cruel stepmother and foolish stepsisters. With the help of a mysterious Fairy Godmother, Cinderella attends the royal ball, captures the Prince’s heart, and discovers whether happily ever after is truly possible.

This version is based on the televised film starring Brandy and Whitney Houston and features memorable songs including “A Lovely Night,” “The Stepsisters’ Lament,” “Impossible,” “Ten Minutes Ago,” and “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful.”

Available Roles

Cinderella
Leading role, female-presenting, ages 18–25. Cinderella is kind, hopeful, and full of heart despite the mistreatment she receives from her stepmother and stepsisters. She dreams of a better life and must sing very well.
Vocal Range: B3–D5

🤴 Christopher
Leading role, male-presenting, ages 25–35. The beloved Prince of the Kingdom is handsome, charming, moral, and sincere, but also lonely and searching for something meaningful. Must sing very well.
Vocal Range: C#3–E4

🪄 Fairy Godmother
Supporting role, female-presenting, ages 40–60. A pragmatic, mysterious, and no-nonsense character who helps Cinderella change her destiny and attend the royal ball.
Vocal Range: D4–D5

👑 Stepmother
Supporting role, female-presenting, ages 45–60. Cinderella’s vain and dismissive stepmother is beautiful, wealthy-minded, and often cruel. She focuses mainly on her own comfort and her daughters’ happiness.

🎀 Grace
Supporting role, female-presenting, ages 20–30. One of Cinderella’s stepsisters, Grace is obnoxious, self-centered, goofy, and known for her silly laugh.

💃 Joy
Supporting role, female-presenting, ages 20–30. Another of Cinderella’s stepsisters, Joy is brash, bratty, attention-seeking, and not especially bright.

👸 Queen Constantina
Supporting role, female-presenting, ages 40–60. The Prince’s loving mother wants the best for her son and does her best to manage the King with warmth and affection.

👑 King Maximillian
Supporting role, male-presenting, ages 40–60. The Prince’s father is a lovable fuddy-duddy with good intentions and deep affection for his family.

📣 Lionel
Supporting role, male-presenting, ages 25–40. The keeper of the court who announces events and must sing well.
Vocal Range: F3–F#4

🌟 Ensemble
Ensemble roles are open to ages 10–60. Roles include Head Chef, Chefs, Steward, Coachman, Footman, Mice, Horses, Guards, Minister, Ball Guests, and Townspeople. All ethnicities, types, sizes, and ages are encouraged.

Audition Preparation

Actors should prepare:

🎵 16 bars of a song in your key that showcases your voice
🎼 Sheet music for the pianist
👟 Proper dance attire
📄 Current resume and headshot, if available
🗓️ A list of rehearsal conflicts

A pianist will be provided. No a cappella singing or recorded music will be accepted. Actors should also be prepared for possible readings from the script.

Please do not wear sandals or flip-flops for the dance portion.

Rehearsal Schedule

Rehearsals are expected to take place:

  • Monday through Thursday evenings
  • Sunday afternoons

Actors should be ready to provide all conflicts during the rehearsal period.

Casting Notes

All listed roles are open and unpaid.

Characters must present as the gender written according to licensing requirements. However, actors are not restricted to auditioning for roles based on their gender identity.

In alignment with Eight O’Clock Theatre’s mission, actors with disabilities and actors of all ethnicities and gender identities are strongly encouraged to audition.
