Hockey Fights Cancer Casting NHL Fans Who Are Cancer Survivors in New York City

The NHL’s annual Hockey Fights Cancer initiative is now casting passionate hockey fans who are also cancer survivors for an upcoming social media campaign in New York City.

The project is looking for authentic, inspiring voices to share personal stories of resilience, hope, and love for the game. Selected participants will have the opportunity to talk about their cancer journey while also highlighting the passions, relationships, traditions, hobbies, and fandom that make up their everyday lives.

This casting call is open to both actors and non-actors.

About the Project

Hockey Fights Cancer 2026 is seeking real NHL fans who are cancer survivors for social media content. The campaign aims to show that cancer may be part of someone’s story, but it does not define who they are.

The production is looking for people who can speak honestly and comfortably on camera while sharing meaningful personal experiences connected to hockey, family, community, and life beyond cancer.

Who They Are Looking For

Casting is seeking 4 to 6 non-union adults who meet the following criteria:

🏒 Passionate NHL hockey fans
💜 Cancer survivors with a personal connection to the game
🎥 Comfortable speaking on camera
✨ Strong communicators with uplifting, authentic personalities
👥 Open to all races and genders
🔞 Ages 18 to 60, must be legally 18 or older

Both non-actors and actors are encouraged to apply.

The campaign is especially interested in individuals whose stories reflect:

💪 Resilience, perseverance, and hope
👨‍👩‍👧 Family, traditions, hobbies, and personal interests
🏒 A genuine love for hockey and NHL fandom
🌟 Life beyond the cancer journey
💜 The message that cancer is part of the story, but not the identity

Filming is expected to take place in late August or early September 2026.

Important Location Note

Applicants should live within approximately two hours of New York City. Those who live farther away should only apply if they have family, friends, or accommodations available in the area, as travel and lodging are not being provided.
