Storyline

The musical follows two generations of women whose lives are deeply connected through the Satmar Hasidic community.

In Brooklyn, Devoiri, a seventeen-year-old girl, enters an arranged marriage and begins a life she has been raised to accept. As she becomes a young mother, she starts to question her future and the community around her.

Sixty years earlier, her grandmother Fraida arrives in America as a young woman and begins a very different journey. Through parallel stories, the musical explores faith, family, motherhood, independence, and the painful choices people face while trying to build a better life for themselves and their children.
