Opera Colorado Announces Open Auditions for Professional Singers

Opera Colorado is inviting local singers to audition for its upcoming 2026–27 season, offering professional opportunities for vocalists in the Denver area.

Known as one of the leading performing arts organizations in the Rocky Mountain region, Opera Colorado produces grand opera productions, concerts, and education programs throughout the community. Founded in 1983, the company has built a strong reputation for presenting both classic and contemporary opera at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House while supporting local artists and arts education.

For the upcoming season, Opera Colorado is seeking singers to join its fully professional and paid chorus ensemble. Selected chorus members will perform in upcoming productions of Verdi’s “Macbeth” and Mozart’s “School for Lovers (Così fan tutte)” at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, located inside the Denver Performing Arts Complex.

About the Chorus Ensemble

Opera Colorado recently transitioned its chorus into a fully professional paid ensemble, marking an important step in the company’s ongoing support of working artists. The organization is also negotiating its first Collective Bargaining Agreement with the American Guild of Musical Artists, reflecting a continued commitment to fair compensation and sustainable working conditions.

Auditions will be held at the Opera Colorado Opera Center in Englewood.

Who Can Audition

Opera Colorado is auditioning singers of all voice types. Local singers with strong classical training and experience in opera or art song repertoire are encouraged to apply.

What to Prepare

Singers should prepare:

🎼 Two memorized selections from opera or art song repertoire
🌍 At least one selection in a foreign language, preferably Italian
🎹 A pianist will be provided for the audition

All audition material should be fully memorized.
