Showtime’s “The Chi” Season 8 Is Now Casting Extras in Chicago

Exciting news for aspiring background actors in Chicago — Showtime’s hit drama “The Chi” is officially back in production for Season 8, and a new rush casting call has been announced for a child extra role.

Created by Lena Waithe, The Chi has become one of television’s most powerful drama series, offering an emotional and authentic look into life on the South Side of Chicago. The series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, with Lena Waithe also serving as executive producer alongside Common, Ayanna Floyd Davis, Aaron Kaplan, Rick Famuyiwa, Derek Dudley, and Shelby Stone.

Submission Requirements

To be considered, parents or guardians must have an EP Casting Portal Profile for each child, and each profile must use a separate email address.

If you do not yet have a profile, you must create one through the official portal before submitting. If your child already has a profile, you may proceed with the email submission.

Applicants should send an email to extras4thechi@gmail.com with “Younger Victor” in the subject line and include the following:

  • 📌 A copy of the work permit attached to the submission, if available
  • 📌 Any known scheduling conflicts within the next three weeks

Production also notes that a guardian must be present during filming for children aged 15 and under.


Important Work Permit Note

The work permit must be issued by 4 Star Casting or a recognized agency. Work permits from other local casting or production companies will not be accepted.

If parents or guardians have not yet obtained a permit or are having trouble with the process, the casting team says they can provide additional instructions.
