Singers Wanted for “Wicked” Broadway and National Tour

Singers in the Chicago area have an opportunity to audition for one of Broadway’s most recognizable musicals. Wicked is holding an open call for vocalists interested in principal and ensemble roles with its Broadway and North American National Touring Companies.

The Chicago singer open call is scheduled for Monday, October 5, 2026, at Ballet Chicago. Both Equity and non-Equity performers are welcome to attend, making the audition accessible to singers who are not currently members of a performers’ union.

Who Can Audition?

Casting is seeking talented singers who can also move well and demonstrate a strong vocal range.

🎶 Skills: Excellent singing ability, wide vocal range, and ability to move well

Chicago Open Call Details

⚠️ Arrival Deadline: Singers must arrive by 1:00 p.m. to be considered

Performers are specifically asked not to arrive before 10:30 a.m.

Potential callbacks are expected to take place on October 6, 2026.

What to Prepare

Auditioning singers should prepare 16 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song that showcases their vocal range. The selection will initially be performed a cappella.

Sopranos may instead prepare 16 bars of a traditional legit musical theatre song that demonstrates their range.

Participants should also bring:

• 🎼 Sheet music in case piano accompaniment is requested
• 📸 A current headshot/photo
• 📄 A resume stapled to the photo

About “Wicked”

With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Wicked explores the story of Elphaba and Glinda before they became known as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
