Universal’s “Freefall” Casting Miami Club Extras in NYC

Grant Wilfley Casting is seeking background actors for Freefall, the working title of Universal Pictures’ upcoming Miami Vice ’85 film starring Austin Butler and Michael B. Jordan. The production is casting Latino and White men and women in their 20s–40s to portray glamorous Miami nightclub patrons in scenes set during the 1980s.

The SAG-AFTRA-covered opportunity offers a rate of $231 for eight hours, with tentative filming dates scheduled for November 17–23, 2026.

About Universal’s Freefall

Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), Miami Vice ’85 is a new film adaptation inspired by the iconic 1980s television series.

Austin Butler portrays Sonny Crockett, while Michael B. Jordan plays Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs. The film revisits the stylish yet dangerous world of Miami’s criminal underworld during the mid-1980s.

Production is taking place in the New York and New Jersey area, where locations are being transformed to recreate Miami’s distinctive 1985 atmosphere.

1980s Appearance Requirements

Because the film takes place in 1985, performers must be comfortable maintaining a period-appropriate appearance.

Important casting requirements include:

✂️ Men should have slightly longer, natural 1980s-appropriate hairstyles or be willing to receive a period haircut.
🧔 Mustaches, sideburns, and light stubble may be acceptable; full beards are not preferred.
🚫 No visible tattoos or facial piercings. Small tattoos may be covered if necessary.
🎥 Must be comfortable with atmospheric smoke.
🎬 Applicants must indicate their comfort with herbal cigarettes and simulated illegal drug use in scenes.
🎨 Period styling and spray tanning may be required.
