Wicked Announces Open Singer Auditions in Boston for Broadway and National Tour

Singers in the Boston area will have the opportunity to audition for Wicked, the long-running Broadway musical, during an upcoming open call on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

The casting team is seeking strong vocalists who move well for potential principal and ensemble roles with both the Broadway production and the National Touring Company.

The audition is open to Equity and non-Equity performers, so singers do not need to be union members to attend.

About Wicked

Wicked has been a major Broadway production since 2003. Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, the musical features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman.

The story takes audiences to Oz before Dorothy arrives and follows the unlikely friendship between Elphaba and Glinda.

The score includes well-known songs such as “Defying Gravity,” “Popular,” and “For Good.”

The Broadway production continues at the Gershwin Theatre in New York, while the musical also maintains an active North American touring production.

Singers should prepare:

🎵 16 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song
Perform the selection a cappella
Sopranos may instead prepare 16 bars of a traditional legit musical theatre song that demonstrates range
🎹 Bring sheet music in case piano accompaniment is requested
📸 Bring a current photo and resume stapled together
