Golden West College Theater Arts invites actors to audition for the world premiere of EIGHT SECONDS, a new play by Tim Mueller, directed by Tom Amen.

Logline:
Ellie spends her days online confronting some of the darkest corners of the internet. Eight Seconds challenges how we see the world, the information we believe, and how those beliefs shape our relationships. Part crime drama, part exploration of online extremism, the play asks: “What will you do with your eight seconds?”

👥 Character Breakdown

ELLIE DONNER (Female, mid-20s to mid-30s) — Independent, sharp, sometimes sarcastic; deeply committed to social justice (can be single-minded). Fights online hate.
STEVE (Male, mid-20s) — Image/status-obsessed loner; foul-mouthed; harbors misogynistic beliefs; active in incel forums.
CHRIS (Male & Female, mid-40s) — two actors — Educated white supremacist; professional demeanor; manipulative; never crass.
CARL (Male, mid-50s to early-60s) — Affable, funny, steadfast in beliefs; conspiracy theorist (flat-earther).
AGENT ROGERS (Female, mid-40s to mid-50s) — Veteran federal agent; cool under pressure; confident and unflappable.
AGENT COLLAZO (Male, mid-30s, Hispanic) — Skilled but more emotionally reactive; leverages emotion in interrogations; eight-year partnership with Rogers.

👨‍💻 About the Playwright

Tim Mueller brings four decades of visual storytelling across stage, TV/film, and live events. He has served as full-time faculty and resident designer at GWC for nearly ten years, designing 40+ productions. Formerly, his company Gothic Moon Productions delivered 850+ projects for clients including McCoy Rigby, Universal Studios, Disney, and South Coast Plaza.

🎬 About the Director

Tom Amen has directed 90+ productions in California and Utah, including 50+ at GWC. Recent titles include The Diviners, The Nether, Inspecting Carol, Every Brilliant Thing, Psycho Beach Party, The Exorcist, Inventing Van Gogh, On the Exhale, The Pillowman, Hamlet, Oedipus Rex, Playing with Fire (After Frankenstein), Dracula, The Glass Menagerie, Never the Sinner, and Waiting for Godot.
