NBC’s hit drama Chicago Fire is back in production for its new 2027 season, and casting directors are now looking for paid background talent to work on the series in the Chicago area.
The long-running series, produced by Emmy Award-winning executive producer Dick Wolf, follows the intense personal and professional lives of the firefighters, paramedics, and rescue workers of the fictional Firehouse 51. Known for its emotional storylines, action-packed emergencies, and strong ensemble cast, Chicago Fire has become one of NBC’s most popular dramas and helped launch the wider One Chicago franchise, including Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med.
For the new season, casting is currently open for several background and stand-in roles. Applicants must be local to Chicago, the suburbs, or surrounding border states to Illinois.

Casting directors are searching for Caucasian male stand-ins who are available to work on the first three episodes of Chicago Fire. Stand-ins are used during rehearsals to help the crew set lighting and camera positions before the principal actors step in.
