Universal Studios Commercial Casting Real Families in Orlando

A major Universal Studios commercial is casting featured talent and real families in the Orlando, Florida area, with selected performers eligible for substantial compensation, including a $10,000 buyout if they appear in the final commercial.

The production is searching for children, teens, adults, seniors, real families, grandparents and grandchildren, best friends, cousins, and other authentic relationships. Actors and non-actors are welcome, with casting especially interested in energetic, natural personalities rather than traditional commercial looks.

This is a non-union, Orlando local-hire opportunity. Travel, transportation, flights, and accommodations will not be provided.

Important Dates

Applicants should have full availability for all listed dates:

  • 💻 Zoom Callbacks: October 9 or October 13, 2026
  • 👕 Possible Fittings: October 22 or October 23, 2026
  • 🎬 Filming: October 28, 29 and 30, 2026

Talent may ultimately work only one to three filming days, but applicants must initially be available for all three dates. Exact call and wrap times have not yet been determined, so full-day availability is required.

Pay and Usage

This is a paid commercial project.

  • Session Fee: $600 + 20% agency fee per workday
  • Fitting: Paid; rate TBD
  • Buyout: $10,000 + 20% agency fee
  • Usage: Worldwide, all media, two years
  • Conflict: Theme parks

Important: The $10,000 buyout is not guaranteed. It is payable only if the performer appears in the final cut of the commercial.

Roles Being Cast

Casting is considering a wide variety of talent and real groups.

Big Minion Fan – Boy, 9–12
A natural, enthusiastic kid with plenty of personality and a genuine love for Minions. Sports interests or experience are a plus.

Grandpa – Male, 65–70
Energetic and adventurous, with a strong emotional connection to his teenage granddaughter. Real grandfather/granddaughter pairs are encouraged.

Granddaughter – Female, 15–17
Fun, energetic and adventurous, with an authentic bond with her grandfather.

Shrek Grandma – Female, 55–65
A big personality with lots of energy and a memorable sense of humor—the kind of grandmother her grandchildren consider a hero.

Quidditch Friends – Boys & Girls, 11–14
Energetic kids who can portray enthusiastic Harry Potter fans. Real groups of friends are welcome to apply together.

Dad – Male, 38–43
Casting a dad who can portray a believable, emotionally reserved relationship with his father-in-law before breaking into genuine excitement.

Father-in-Law – Male, 68–72
Should be able to create a believable relationship with a son-in-law. Real father-in-law/son-in-law pairs are encouraged to apply.

Mummy Duo Friends – Women, 30–45
Two energetic female best friends who love thrills, excitement, and returning to their favorite theme park experiences. Real best friends are strongly encouraged.

Mario Cousins – Boys & Girls, 8–16
Fun and lively kids who enjoy gaming, Nintendo, Mario, sports, and spending time with family. Real cousin groups may submit together.

Real Family Casting

The commercial is also specifically looking for real family units with members roughly ages 13–75.

Casting would like to see families consisting of teenage children, parents, and a grandparent who have natural chemistry and can convincingly enjoy a day together at Universal.

Individual family-member roles may also be cast to create family units:

  • 👩 Mom: Female, 30–45
  • 👨 Dad: Male, 30–45
  • 👴 Granddad: Male, 60–75
  • 🧑 Teens: Male or female, 13–18

Real families are highly encouraged to submit together.

For every performer under 18, a parent or legal guardian must remain on set at all times.

Orlando Local-Hire Requirement

Applicants must be able to work in the Orlando, Florida area as local hires.

You may live outside Orlando if you are within a reasonable driving distance and can provide your own transportation. However, production will not cover airfare, accommodation, transportation, or other travel expenses.

  • Details about current or previous sports/athletic experience

Photos and Pre-Audition Video

Submissions must also include:

📸 Two recent color photos

  • One close-up
  • One full-body standing photo
  • Cell phone photos are preferred
  • No filters, hats, or sunglasses
  • You should be the only person in your individual photos

Groups, couples, friends, or families should also provide 2–3 photos together.

🎥 Pre-audition self-tape

Record a simple cell phone video introducing yourself. Include:

  • First and last name
  • Height and weight
  • Age if under 18
  • What you enjoy doing for fun
  • Why you believe you are a good fit for the role

Applicants selected from the initial video may be contacted for additional role-specific audition footage.
